Connecting your website
Proving the site is yours, and giving STARICON a password you can take back.
Two separate things happen here, and they are separate on purpose. First you prove the website is yours. Then you give STARICON a way to work on it — a password made for this and nothing else.
Proving the website is yours
STARICON gives you a short code and two ways to put it on your site. Either is fine; the file is usually easier.
- Open your website in your STARICON account and copy the code it shows you.
- Either upload the small file to your website, or add the meta tag to its home page.
- Come back and press the button. STARICON reads your site and checks the code is there.
The application password
This is not your normal WordPress password, and STARICON will never ask you for that one. An application password is a separate password your website makes for one particular program, and you can delete it on your own site at any time without changing anything else.
- In WordPress, go to Users, then your profile.
- Find "Application Passwords" near the bottom and give the new one a name, such as STARICON.
- WordPress shows the password once. Copy it.
- Paste it into STARICON with your WordPress username. It is encrypted before it is stored.
If you ever want STARICON out, delete that application password in WordPress. Everything stops at once, and nothing else about your site is affected.
